Day 9: Are you a Doer?

Hello Love,

Today we go into the story within a story…

This is the story of Eli. Eli and his family were priests in those time. Eli had been given a warning from God. God did not take lightly that they were cheating the people out of the sacrifices. In those time, blood was shed in the form of an unblemished lamb, sheep, or a certain animal to atone for the sins of the people.

This is also why Jesus is called the Lamb of God, and why He’s washed away the sin of the world.

“So why do you scorn my sacrifices and offerings? Why do you give your sons more honor than you give me—for you and they have become fat from the best offerings of my people Israel!” 1 Samuel 2:29

God gave Eli a warning. Eli’s son’s were wicked in eyes of the Lord and although Eli tried to speak with them, but they wouldn’t listen.

“ But now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained. The time is coming when I will cut short your strength and the strength of your priestly house, so that no one in it will reach old age, “ 1 Samuel 2:30-31

Notice how God says “The time is coming”. I believe God was giving Eli and his family time to repent and plead to God. Time to see what they were doing and giving them a choice.
Will they continue to abuse the position they were given or would the turn around and be loyal to God?

Today’s story is a story of disobedience. There’s only a short time that we have here on this Earth and when you stand before the Lord what will you hear?

Well done?

I’m not trying to instill fear or say that if you don’t do something with your life that you’ll receive the wrath of God. On the Contrary, God is a loving and faithful God, with plenty of mercy despite our short comings.

I want to challenge you today. Are you just hearers of the Word of God?
Or are you Doers?

What type of end are you hoping for because we’re all passing the time, but how will you pass it?

Don’t think about how you are in the sight of men, but in the sight of God. You don’t have to be popular, just obedient. You don’t have to do something extravagant, you just have to be faithful with what you have.
