Hello Love,
When I heard that I could volunteer at my Church’s Incite Leadership Conference I was game. I even prayed about it oddly enough and I immediately seized the window to attend!
Not only did I get to attend but I was volunteering as my favorite pass time hobby, Photographer!!
Check out the Gallery!
I took MAD pictures yo and it turned out great, especially being behind the camera. I love the “Behind the Scenes” captures, I guess that’s one reason why I title my blog as “Behind the Seams“, it just fits.
If I could be a photographer that ONLY catches behind the scenes of other photographers catching the scene. That’s what I’d DO!! Like, pick me!
It reminds me of the time when I wanted to be a dancer for about 0.10 seconds and my sister was trying to show me this fancy ballet jump. You do something with your feet, and then she imitates me and says, “Help! I’m a whale trying to get out of the water.“
…And that’s where my dancing career started and ended.
But I digress..
Without Further Adieu my Friends, Here are …
TOP 5 Lessons at a Leadership Conference
[dropcap style=”light “]1[/dropcap] Everyone is going through “the Struggle“
The struggle IS real, my friends the struggle is REAL. I know we’ve all heard it, read it and at times say it, but the truth is, the truth. Even the people we see ahead of their game, top of their field, they will preach this to you. In a nutshell, it allowed me to understand that there’s going to be ups and downs. I’ve learned that these moments, in the tough moments, is really when God is asking us a question, “Is this really what you want?” It’s very rare that you find someone make something worth while in a day. It takes WORK.
[dropcap style=”light “]2[/dropcap] Finding your “Why“
With everyone writing about Lessons and What Not’s Finding your WHY seems to be the underlining KEY to staying consistent in your PASSION. Although I never really focused so much on this before, now it’s definitely my motivating tool that I kick out whenever I’m feeling down in the dumps or I just want to lay on my couch and eat banana nut bread ALL. DAY. LONG. Have you eatin a slice of this masterful creation?
[dropcap style=”light “]3[/dropcap] Relationships
This is a BIG one and took me a while to fully understand. Faith will take us there but developing great social skills, understanding our own limitations plays a big role on whether or not that passion is for you or not. Know thy self son! You have to be careful who you let in and understand who you need to kick out. It’s not being a “meany“, It’s life. You have to do what’s right for you and place yourself in environments that bring out your BEST self. So ultimately you can actually help the people you’re meant to help at your optimal Level. After all your gift is meant to spread sunshine and love everywhere, right? My Point – Sometimes you gotta walk alone for a bit to understand what’s important to you and once you’re ready, God will bring you the perfect people at the perfect time for you. Don’t give up.
[dropcap style=”light “]4[/dropcap] PLAN, PLAN, PLAN!
This should be number one. Plan out your year! It’s something that EVERYONE who is at the top of their game has mapped out, including athletes! Have your pause moments, Your important family moments and important dates in your planner, don’t have one? GET ONE!
Soooo, this is embarrassing, it hasn’t been until recently that I’ve actually invested in a good planner, I know, but LOOOOVE, Let me tell you honey it’s BEEN INCREDIBLE!!! To the point I’d like to design one! I’m not talking about those fancy electronic calender’s and to do lists (That’s what I’ve been surviving on until recently it’s basically electronic junk food) I’m talking old school baby. PAPER & PEN. Meat and Potatoes with a side of veggies to boot! It’s a healthier choice. You’re welcome. (By the way the Great ones get sold out QUICK, One day, in all seriousness, I was at target and the shelves were stocked with these specimens, the next, I had to settle for not-the-one-I-wanted. Refer to Lesson 1.)
[dropcap style=”light “]5[/dropcap] Celebrate!
You know, I wasn’t a real big celebrate-er, until I hit the dance floor and shimmied my way down the conga line. But in all and all. DO IT. Shimmy..right there in your seat.
So yea, that’s my 5 top lessons I learned at a Leadership Conference!
