Without further adieu…
Hi, y’all! I’m Lara. I’m a mom to three–one through the gift of adoption, a grateful wife, and a believer in the impossible (we have quite the story!). If we were having tea together right now, you’d find out quickly that I’m passionate about helping people get unstuck, unrushed, and living on purpose instead of by accident. To help with those things, I created the PowerSheets™ grace-filled goal setting planner, the Write the Word™ journals, and I founded Southern Weddings a decade ago. You can read my whole story in my first book, Make It Happen: Surrender Your Fear, Take the Leap, Live On Purpose. I’d love to meet you one day, whether here, on my weekly Facebook Live, on the blog, or at the Making Things Happen conference. I love the women I work alongside each day, the smell of white lilies, getting my hands dirty in the garden, exploring local farms, and living in Chapel Hill, NC!
Do you have a nickname?
Lara
How old are you?
37
How old are you at heart?
37 : )
What is your title and company?
CEO, Lara Casey Media
What year did you launch your business?
2006
What has been a highlight during the time you’ve run your business?
The last year stands out the most to me. I went through the hardest season of my life as we rapidly expanded our family through the gift of adoption (my youngest are 6 months apart), I tried to write my second book Cultivate, and was struggling to lead my business well in it all. This is both the low and the high for me because I learned that good things come out of hard things. In wanting to quit my business in that season, I learned that I did need to quit something: doing things the way I’ve always done them.
What has been a lowlight and how did you bounce back?
Same as above : )
What do you tell yourself that keeps you motivated?
I think on God’s grace. It gives me unending motivation to do what I’ve been called to do each day in my family and in my work.
What would you say is one thing you do that refreshes you?
Truth from the Word of God. It helps squash many of the lies I’m tempted to believe about who I am, and where my true worth comes from.
What do you want readers to gain from following you on social media?
I hope to be a light, encouraging them that they don’t have to do it all, or do life perfectly.
What lessons have you learned through running your business and pursuing your dreams?
That imperfect progress adds up, and that cultivating a meaningful life starts right where you are, with what you have.
What is your favorite lipstick color?
Coral
Do you prefer coffee or tea?
Tea
