4 Tips For Creatives | When do you know it’s ready?

Hello Love!

I’m a creative.

In the beginning of my creative endeavors, I was in the search of who I was, creatively.

Not who I was as a creative, but in search of who I was – through creativity.

Today, if you are a creative or consider yourself to be a creative where you have a craft you want to launch out, actually start receiving clients, orders or building that dream business…

Here are 3 IMPORTANTE Lessons I’ve learned the hard way that you can learn the easy way, when posing the question, ‘When do you know it’s ready?‘, plus a bonus.

DO NOT prematurely put out something that you don’t absolutely love.

I know, you would think that this is a given, but in my experience, you can get side swiped with content and quantity rather than quality.

Don’t Do it, Don’t think you have to be a factory pumping out content left and right. You don’t.

Hard to admit, but I did at one point felt like I constantly had to shove out content for this blog. Which lead to putting out things when they weren’t ready because I just had this fixation to just keep creating and putting it out there. Instead of developing the initial idea. DEVELOP it!

Although that was then, it has thankfully lead to some awesome knowledge, growth and insight.

[dropcap]2.[/dropcap]Get Messy

First of all, I want to give you permission to make YOUR mistakes, to get messy.

Sometimes you gotta just create in order to find yourself in the mess. A bit contradictory, but sometimes you just have to create.

Through the creating you’ll find a masterpiece.

You’re going to make mistakes, everyone makes mistakes, but don’t shrink back from them, move on and keep developing it!

That’s what I had to do, to find out what really filled me, what drained me and what just wasn’t worth my time.

And Love, through the mess, I’ve found what really fills me.

[dropcap]3.[/dropcap] PLAY

You gotta play with your tools, with your paint brushes, with your apps, with, with what ever you are using to create  in order to see how they work!

As a creative you have a flood of tools you can work with but how can you know what medium you’re meant to work with, how you’re meant to manipulate it and how your meant to use it, if you don’t give it a try?

So even though this lesson was a difficult one it has been one of the most fulfilling and EYE opening, lessons yet!

And in the midst of playing around, I found what I really wanted, and what I’m called to put out in the world.

[dropcap]4.[/dropcap]Fall in Love

I found out if I was proud of something, chances would be that others would be too.

Like for instance, I knew I wanted to be an artist. I knew I like drawing, but from drawing, which is the foundation of any artist usually, there’s a world of mediums out there.

From Graphic design, to paint to Canvas, to mediums like acrylic, oil and the LIST GOES ON! Like seriously it’s expansive.

But how do you know what you’re good at if you don’t even try it out?

In this Lesson I learned your best work, is the work that you LOVE. That you want to SHARE and not CRINGE at the thought of millions seeing it.

So Love, that creation, that you just typed up, made, or drawn up.

How do you know it’s ready to share? Ok, so it may look good aesthetically and it may be AMAZING, but it’s only as good as YOU feel it is.

If you absolutely love it, then as a creative thats a lightbulb that its complete and ready to be shared.

I hope this helps you in your own creative journey.

xoxo

P.S. The bonus – This is where I started…

…and I still sew with this, which is over there in that corner. At the time we didn’t even have a couch! I honestly believe God has a calling for each one of us. I hope that this posts helps you own your own mess and find your way through it. ♥ We all start somewhere, it’s about pouring your heart and soul to all that God has called you to be and He’ll do the rest.
